Empowering Girls to Change the World on International Day of the Girl
Whether it's "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" by Aretha Franklin, "Run the World" by Beyonce, or "Worth it" by Fifth Harmony, today we are celebrating girls worldwide who will one day turn into empowered women.
You see, today, is International Day of the Girl, a resolution adopted by the United Nations in 2011 "to focus attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights."
While the statistics surrounding girls and their struggles worldwide will leave even the most cynical feeling a bit bleak, there is one young woman - Camila Cabello - a leading lady from girl group, Fifth Harmony, who hasn't let the statistics stop her from raising money and awareness for this important cause.
“I am so inspired by what Save the Children is doing to give girls around the world a brighter future. So I wanted to support this amazing cause by designing this special #LoveOnly tee and hoodie," Camila said.
The Love Only tee will help support the charity’s efforts to raise awareness of these issues and to ensure a world where girls get equal access to education, health care and opportunities to succeed.
